Handi-Hut announces new solar-powered outdoor shelter light kits that provide lighting for passengers waiting in transit shelters. The lights can operate from dusk to dawn, providing light for up to 36 hours, or three nights.

These days solar is showing up everywhere, from large-scale installations to smaller fixtures for everyday, practical uses. Now Handi-Hut, a Clifton, New Jersey manufacturer of aluminum outdoor passenger and smoking shelters, has announced that they will be offering new solar powered light kits that will provide light for passengers waiting in transit shelters. The company is offering an introductory price of $495.

These kits include an 8″x19″ solar panel with a lifetime warranty and a built-in quick charge lithium battery pack, 48 super bright LED lights without any required maintenance, and a protective cover. Each light fixture is 24″ and can operate from dusk to dawn, providing light for up to 36 hours, or three nights. They also include a universal mounting bracket that can attach to transit shelters and bike parking shelters produced by sister company, Velodome Shelters.

It’s still a high cost to be sure, but Handi-Hut’s selling point is that $495 is actually pretty inexpensive, considering what these kits usually cost. And if that price is still bumming people out, then Handi-Hut adds that if you buy three, you’ll get an additional one free.
