America’s pastime is going green. The San Diego Padres are teaming up with Sunrun to encourage fans to go solar. Sunrun announced earlier this week that it is the official residential solar company for the team. As Sunrun is now available to close to 90% of all California residents, encouraging solar awareness to Padres fans could do a great deal to increase the installation of residential solar in the state.
“Sunrun is proud to serve as the official residential solar company of the San Diego Padres,” said Michael Grasso, Sunrun’s chief marketing officer. “Sunrun and the Padres are dedicated to engaging with families through the power of the sun – enjoying a great baseball game outdoors and harnessing it to power their homes. We look forward to working with the Padres to educate more homeowners in the San Diego area that going solar with Sunrun is simple and saves them money.”
The partnership goes beyond the signs that Sunrun now has displayed at the park. Sunrun consultants will be available at home games as well.

The Padres have a long history of environmental stewardship. As part of their Green Initiative, the Padres have recycling, waste management, energy efficiency, and water conservation strategies in place. They have been receiving recognition for these efforts for the last decade.
The partnership will be in effect through at least the 2017 season.
