Verengo Solar Hires 1000th Employee

Verengo announces it has created 1000 solar jobs — way to go, Verengo! A milestone for the nation’s third-largest installer, and the largest residential installer.

Verengo Solar announced on Monday that it’s hired its 1000th employee. The privately held company based in Torrance, California is the third-largest solar installer in the nation. However, the company deals solely in the residential market, and there it’s achieved the number one position as the top U.S. residential installer.

Now the company can also be proud that it’s doing its part to increase the number of solar jobs in the U.S.

Founded in 2008, Verengo has grown 600% in the past five years, with over 10,000 installations as of November, 2013. Inc Magazine rated Verengo the 40th greatest job creator last year.

“Many positive developments have contributed to Verengo’s current growth rate, including the successful expansion of our residential business into New York State and the increasing acceptance of rooftop solar leasing by home owners,” said Verengo co-founder and president Ken Button in a press release. “We are excited about the future of our business, as more and more Americans take control of their energy bills and protect themselves from rising utility rates.”

Verengo is the nation’s third-largest residential installer after market leader Solar City and Utah-based Vivint. Verengo operates in California, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.
